York Place
Harrogate
A pared-back, classic redesign of a historic Victorian town house front garden from fussy and difficult to maintain box-leaved Holly parterres, to clean crisp lawns with English Sandstone rear pathways and new planted borders. The property elevation benefits from elegant topiarised Bay trees which frame the view towards the property and provide year-round height and form, whilst evergreen Yew topiary spheres nestle in amongst golden grasses, burnet-toned Astrantia, and ‘Hidcote’ Lavender to create new borders at the rear of the garden. The newly laid front lawn contains gravelled inlays in which beautifully crafted stone plinths and planting urns act as sentinels, and are used for seasonal bedding displays. This is a scheme with understated but timeless quality of palette and materials, which compliment the history of the property, and sits elegantly within it’s surroundings whilst being simpler to maintain.
